this series is my response to the very first blooms of spring that appear here in London.
I pluck these and take them backc to the studio and , they are kept in the refrigerator and then observed and drawn . The flowers lie on my table and are drawn as objectively and painted as acurately as is possible for me as and where they are . This is work of great integrity .
My intention is to mark the time and place of both the season and my experience of it .
These peices are painted on canvas with a sensuosly prepared surface resembling a time worn wall.The sensuality of the surface compliments the cool anaesthetic content of the paintings , giving them a very cool and contemporary look. These paintings though small have a monumental feel and seem to create space when placed in an interior.
